With
over 20 years of experience in Taekwon Do,
Darryl Pearce joined the team at Freestyle
Martial Arts Academy in 2009. He began his
martial arts training in Tae Kwon Do at the
age of 11 in Orlando, Florida. Since then,
he has moved over 15 times. Every
relocation after the age of 12 forced Darryl
to prove his knowledge and ability in Taekwon Do before he would be accepted as a
student and his rank would be honored.
Each
Taekwon Do Master would require him to
learn their unique curriculum before
advancing him any further in rank. Although
this led to many additional years of
practice, Darryl gained a broad
understanding of both traditional and
sport-oriented Taekwon Do styles. Darryl
gained his 1st Dan rank with the
World Taekwondo Federation in 1999 under
Master Chip Lutz at the age of 21.
Darryl teaches both traditional and
sport-oriented Taekwon Do philosophies with
strong tones of practical application. He
stresses the importance of incorporating
martial arts exercises and principles into
daily life for a healthy body and a healthy
attitude. The end result of Darryl’s
teachings is a comprehensive understanding
of Taekwon Do as an expression of one’s
self and as an effective means of
self-defense.
